IPOS Early Career Professionals Events
This year the early career professionals in psycho-oncology (ECPP) committee will organize a number of exciting events at the conference in Hong Kong. This programme is open to all psycho-oncology early career professionals within ten years of their highest degree. All professionals such as postgraduate or PhD students, clinicians or postdocs are welcome to take part.
These events are made possible and are available for free through the support of the conference organizers and IPOS. While it is not a requirement to be an IPOS member for participation, we would like to encourage all participants to become an IPOS member. IPOS provides a reduced 25$ fee for ECPPs within three years of their highest degree as well as members-in-training (see https://ipos-society.org/apply/ for information how to apply).
If you are interested in updates and information about the conference and other activities of the IPOS ECPP committee, we encourage you to join our email-list! Please send firstname.lastname@example.org an email.
This is a lunch session providing an opportunity for early career professionals to meet and exchange ideas with some of the most renowned researchers and clinicians in the field. Ten mentors from leading international research centres will facilitate a small and informal group discussion with early career professionals. All early career professionals are invited to participate with ideas and topics for discussion provided as a guide. You will be able to apply for this event during the registration process.
Oral Poster Session
This session provides an opportunity for early career professionals to present their research to other early career researchers and get feedback from renowned senior researchers in the field. Participants will be selected from all early career professionals whose abstracts have been awarded as a poster presentation at the IPOS conference and who have indicated their interest in participating in this event through a tick box when submitting their abstract. Participants will give a five-minute oral presentation. A certificate will be handed out for the best presentations.
Annual SIG Meeting
This meeting is open for all ECPPs to discuss achievements and plan future goals for the ECPP committee. Everyone interested is welcome to join. It’s an informal meeting where you can share your thoughts about what the ECPP SIG can mean for you. Furthermore, we would like to use this meeting to inform you about all early career events going on at the conference and to get to know the committee.
Pre-conference workshop: Concept Development Workshop (to be confirmed)
The IPOS Early Career Psycho-Oncology Professionals (ECPP) committee and the Research committee are organising a pre-conference workshop. The goal of the Concept Development workshop is to foster Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in the development of studies of clinical relevance and importance in psycho-oncology through a mentoring and facilitated collaboration process. The aim is to provide a supportive environment for intensive development on study design and methods, and to then get some advice and input from experts in the field through a “Dragon’s Den” at the end of the workshop.
Any ECPP who has finished (or will soon finish) their final qualification who has registered for the IPOS conference is eligible for the workshop. The workshop will be free of charge.
You will be able to apply for this event during the registration process.
ECPP Symposium: Case presentation, clinical supervision (to be confirmed)
This year, we will be hosting a new event based on input from our members. ECPPs will have the opportunity to submit to the committee tricky (anonymized) cases that they have faced and a panel of senior psycho-oncology clinicians will provide suggested approaches to managing these cases.
